Tiger time at the MCG this weekend has Scott Pendlebury remembering some of his biggest games in front of a deafening Magpie Army.

Richmond fans are expected to dominate attendance when the club meets the GWS Giants in a Saturday afternoon Preliminary Final.

What ensues may be a rare case of opposition supporters serving up an atmosphere usually reserved for blockbusters involving the Magpies.

“We’ve always had majority of the crowd as a Collingwood player,” Pendlebury said on Collingwood Media podcast ‘Jock and Journo’.

“That Collingwood chant that goes up… it just overpowers anything else that happens.

“If any other team tries to chant and Collingwood wants to do their chant, Collingwood gets their way.

“To know that you’ve got that backing is huge. It’s like a 19th player.”

While Pendlebury believes a young GWS team will be ready to embrace the challenge, he said the noise at the MCG on Saturday will intimidate both the visitors and the umpires in charge.

The captain says it was the case in 2010, when the Magpies’ met the Cats in a Friday night Preliminary Final. Pendlebury kicked two goals and had 24 possessions in a 41-point Collingwood win.

“I remember playing against Geelong in 2010 when we won, it felt like they had no supporters there. It was probably 70-30 our way,” he described.
