Scott Pendlebury
has been named to return to Collingwood’s starting 22.

It’s a relief to us all, but especially fellow midfielder Adam Treloar.

While the star onballer had an inkling his captain would miss last week’s clash with Geelong at the MCG with an ankle injury, he – like the rest of us – was kept guessing until the final moments.

“It really was touch and go for him,” Treloar told co-host Mark Allen on Collingwood Media vodcast Sports Galore.

“We sort of knew 24 hours out that he wasn’t going to play, but it was still up in the air.”

“We just prepared ourselves for both scenarios, in case he was or wasn’t going to play."

With 90 minutes remaining until the first bounce, the whisper became official and Pendlebury was replaced by forward Ben Crocker. Treloar and his undermanned midfield cohort had to take on the star-studded Cats trio of Patrick Dangerfield, Gary Ablett Jnr and Joel Selwood.

“We just took a bigger role in the midfield – myself, Steele and Tay, who came in and did an excellent job on Selwood,” Treloar said.

“It was disappointing we didn’t win… our offense and ball use really let us down. But we worked on that a lot today. We want to take the game on this week.”
