For 22 years, Tony Shaw served the Collingwood Football Club with distinction.

Be it as a player, a runner or a coach, there are few Shaw didn’t leave his mark on.

Now, as he turns his hand to real estate, Shaw continues to contribute to the wider Collingwood community.

In his role as a Director at Flannagan Peressini and Shaw Real Estate (FPS), Tony and his team will donate $1000 to the Collingwood Football Club Foundation’s Magpie Nest Housing Project for every house a Collingwood supporter successfully sells through FPS.

“My aim is to try and get (donations) to somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000, if we can,” Shaw told Collingwood Media.

“But we’d just love the support of the Collingwood fans, and if they can help us out, it would be great.”

It’s a part of the FPS team’s sporting chance program, which sees the organisation donate $1000 to a sporting club associated with a supporter who sells through FPS.

“Hopefully it’s a way to help the Magpie Nest keep growing, and we’d love to think that FPS will play a big part in the future of the Project.

The Magpie Nest Housing Project is a partnership between the Collingwood Football Club Foundation and the Safe Exits Project 614 team from the Salvation Army.

Magpie Nest aims to make a genuine difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness by providing a network of support services; individual case management and safe, affordable accommodation.

The Project targets the most vulnerable people in our community: people sleeping rough on the streets and living in unsafe rooming houses, and provides access to a range of support services including links to drug, alcohol and mental health services, free legal advice and representation, housing assistance and employment and training assistance.

“If there’s any Collingwood supporter that wants to give us a ring, we’d be rapt to help them out.”

Shaw’s role with FPS Real Estate is the next step in his post-football journey. While he remains a key figure in 3AW and Fox Footy’s commentary teams each week, he has had a keen interest in real estate for several years.

“I had my real estate ticket twelve years ago and never utilised it,” Shaw explained.

“I’ve bought and sold commercial property for a fair while. A bloke called Brent Flannagan, who had Flannagan’s Real Estate out in the Diamond Valley for over 35 years, told me his son and his best mate, who were with another real estate company, wanted to start up their own company.

“The Collingwood fans supported me for nearly 20 years of my life when I was at the club. We went through some good times, and had some bad times, but thankfully we got the ultimate in 1990, so if they can help us in supporting the Magpie Nest Housing Project, that would be terrific.

“We think we (at FPS Real Estate) service the real estate industry as well as anyone in the game, so we would love to work with any Collingwood supporter.

“Our office is situated in the Collingwood heartland and we specialise in the northern suburbs, we are selling all types of real estate and in fact we will travel anywhere and can service the whole of Metro Melbourne”
