With Adam Treloar’s beloved Oklahoma City Thunder locked in an intense final quarter in the NBA playoffs, attention quickly turned to the topic of ‘playing under pressure’ on episode nine of Collingwood Media’s ‘Sports Galore’.

Treloar and co-host Mark Allen spoke at length on the vodcast about what it takes to perform under pressure and just who are the best and worst athletes in the world in late-game scenarios.

Chris Tarrant, Michael Jordan, Virat Kohli, Joe Montana and Sam Stosur all got a mention. But which side of the ledger do they sit?

Listen to Sports Galore in the module below and keep an ear our for the following topics…

'We put the blame on ourselves'

As has been the case all throughout the week, Treloar failed to blame injury for last Sunday’s loss to the Western Bulldogs.

However the dominant midfielder did recall an incident in the last quarter where he was turned around when trying to come to the bench.

“Seven minutes into the last quarter, I’d been on the ball.

I kicked it and was running celebrating, running straight to the bench and I’ve seen them go like that (waving their arms to go back on). And I thought ‘oh you’re kidding me’”

Treloar’s teammates driving him mad

Nine times out of 10, the Collingwood players get on like a house on fire. But Treloar reveals that when the NBA is on the line, friendships get put aside.

“I know that everyone likes to see me riled out and cracking it and throwing things and punching things because we’re losing, so they’re all celebrating when Steph Curry and Klay Thompson are hitting shots.

“I’m going off my head… It frustrates the heck out of me.

Our hosts performing under pressure

Both Treloar and Allen have their own case of being under pressure in a late-game scenario.

The anecdotes vary from one extreme to the other with Treloar telling a story about an under-14’s football game, while Allen discusses leading golf’s New Zealand Open.

“I choked like a pig,” one of the pair recalls.

The most boring major in the world

Tennis captures the Australian public in January, but Allen isn’t a fan of the Grand Slam that is currently taking place in France.

Despite Sam Stosur making her way to the Semi Final, Allen described the French Open as “the most boring major in the whole world”.

“There’s no one in the stands,” he said.
