Newly re-signed premiership stars Steele Sidebottom, Ben Reid and Nathan Brown took questions from the media at the Westpac Centre on Thursday morning.

Collingwoodfc.com.au has published a summation of the key points of interest to arise from the press conference.

How is Ben Reid's calf injury progressing?
"The calf is pretty good. It's progressing well," Reid replied. The swingman says he did not suffer a setback with the injury in the aftermath of round one, but rather he was not able to "quite get up to the next hurdle after that, so I took a step back to get it right for a long season and hopefully the finals."

How frustrating has the season been for Reid so far?
"The last month has been (frustrating)," he lamented, saying the last pre-season was one of his best ever, but to sustain the injury is just part and parcel of footy.

What is the latest news on Nathan Brown's injured shoulder?
"The shoulder is pretty good. It has come up pretty well."

Brown, a victim of a similar injury several years ago, stressed that it is important not to rush back from shoulder injuries lest he end his season by returning too early.

"I won't put my hand up until I'm ready. The scans have come back all really good so I'm very stoked about it."

What is Brown's take on his new contract extension?
"I'm definitely happy the club has shown faith in me for the next three years. I'm happy to stay with the guys...I'm excited to be around for another three years to try and get another premiership."

How is Steele Sidebottom travelling ahead of Saturday night's huge clash with Geelong?
"Everyone lifts to play the big teams," says big game player Steele, who wouldn't be drawn on tagger Brent Macaffer's likely opponent (Macaffer restricted Joel Selwood to just six kicks among his 20 disposals when the two clubs last met).

"It hasn't been a great start to the year for me," said Sidebottom, who hopes it will prove "better to do that early and build on it for the rest of the season and put the first two games behind me."

Sidebottom also gave Scott Pendlebury's fitness a big tick.

"He looked good. I'm sure he'll be fine for Saturday night."
