Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley fronted the media for 25 minutes at his weekly press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Buckley took questions on the impact of Leading Teams, the dedication of the club's older players and the status of Andrew Krakouer as well as announcing Clinton Young's return via the VFL this Sunday.

The coach was enthusiastic when asked about the way the players have reacted to the arrival of Leading Teams (an organisation that offers specialist leadership training and development). He said that it, like everything done at the Westpac Centre, is designed to "elicit the very best performance of the team on game day".

"What it has done for us is give young players a road map of how they're going to get the best out of themselves at this footy club," Buckley said.

He also dismissed assertions that some of the club's older players, such as Alan Didak, Ben Johnson and Dane Swan, had not taken a liking to the structures implemented by Leading Teams.

"I think there's not enough credit given to those players," Buckley said.

"Those players have been successful for a long period and they're great footballers and great team men who want to be part of a successful team."

"They're as hungry to succeed and be involved as anyone. It's disrespectful to them to say otherwise."

Buckley also announced that Clinton Young will play his first match of any kind in the VFL this Sunday after a 10-week layoff with a hamstring complaint.

"His training for 4-5 weeks has been excellent...he's ready to step into games."

On Andrew Krakouer, Buckley confirmed that he will play for the club's VFL team this week.

"Krak needed some time, so we gave him that time. We are a club that's there for our players," Buckley said when asked to explain Krakouer's absence last week.
