Collingwood small forward Ben Sinclair has won the round 11 NAB AFL Rising Star nomination.

The 20-year-old had 12 possessions, took five marks and booted three goals in the Magpies' 42-point win over Melbourne at the MCG on Monday, drawing praise from his coach Nathan Buckley.

"In the first half of this year Ben has consistently been impacting on games for us," Buckley said.

"His contested footy, his pressure on the opposition and his ability to regularly get on the scoreboard have become really valuable and important to our flexibility.

"Right now he's one of our first picked, certainly one of the first picked of our small forwards."

Recruited from Scotch College with pick 62 in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft, Sinclair made his AFL debut in round 19 last season after overcoming a fractured leg.

He has played every game so far in 2012.
