Collingwood stars Dane Swan and Ben Reid are both expected to miss two weeks of football after they were injured in Friday night’s win over Geelong.

Swan went down in the early stages of the final term with a hamstring injury with the scan indicating it was a strain.  The 2011 Brownlow Medallist is expected to return for the round 11 contest against Melbourne.

Reid also went down in the final term after straining his troublesome quadricep, an injury which has caused him to miss two matches this year.

Director of football Geoff Walsh indicated the club was pleased with the results.

“It was a reasonably positive result for both players,” Walsh told collingwoodfc.com.au.

“We now will look at how we manage both Swan and Reid over the next two weeks to ensure they get back to playing senior football before the break.”

It will be the first match Swan has missed since round 12 last year when the midfielder headed over to Arizona for a mid-season training camp.  The break arguably assisted Swan’s Brownlow-winning form, polling 21 votes in the second half of the season.

The series of injuries to the club’s younger Magpies continued over the weekend with Paul Seedsman sustaining a concussion in a tackle in the early stages of the VFL loss.  The 2012 debutant is expected to miss one week.

Emerging forward Luke Rounds will miss one more week on the sidelines with a calf injury, while Jackson Paine is set to return in two weeks from an ankle injury.

Veteran Chris Tarrant made a successful return in the VFL over the weekend, booting two goals at Victoria Park.
