Collingwood defender Jordy Allen will miss the remainder of the 2021 AFLW campaign, whilst fellow defender Lauren Butler will be sidelined indefinitely after scans on Monday confirmed the extent of their injuries.

Allen, 20, fractured her fifth metatarsal in her right foot early in the first term of Collingwood’s round 7 match against Brisbane on Sunday afternoon, whilst Butler, 20, tore her right hamstring late in the second quarter.

“The whole program is really disappointed for Jordy and Lauren who were beginning to come into their own,” Collingwood AFLW coach Steve Symonds said.

“Both girls have played important roles in the side’s backline and have consistently made an impact each game.

“We will rally around the girls and continue to engage them in the remainder of our 2021 campaign.”

The pair was drafted to Collingwood in the 2018 AFLW draft. Allen was selected with Collingwood’s top pick whilst Butler was picked up with the club’s fourth selection.

This season they averaged nine (Allen) and 10 (Butler) disposals at an 80 per cent efficiency.

Butler and Allen had played all matches of the 2021 campaign and have played 17 and 20 games respectively.
