Key defender Jack Frost has officially been confirmed as Collingwood’s nominated rookie for season 2015.

Under the Nominated Rookie Rule, clubs are eligible to nominate a rookie player who can play during the premiership season and finals series if it has 38 players on its list (not including veteran players) and it satisfies the Total Player Payments requirements.

“Even though he was left on rookie list, which we asked him to do, it was always pre-determined that he would be the pre-season nominated rookie,” Director of Football Neil Balme told collingwoodfc.com.au.

“He’s pretty much a fixture in the team.”

Frost was one of the feel-good stories of season 2014.

He began his second year in the AFL system with just two senior games behind him, but went on to become the only Magpie to feature in all 22 home and away games.

The 23-year-old was rewarded with ninth placing in the E.W. Copeland Trophy count and earned the respect of the competition for his efforts in blanketing the league’s best key forwards, highlighted by his stopping job on Sydney superstar Lance Franklin in round two.

Frost enters the 2015 campaign with 24 games of senior experience behind him and is the latest in a string of rookie Magpie backmen to become permanent fixtures in the senior line up, following in the footsteps of Nick Maxwell, Heritier Lumumba and Alan Toovey.
