Collingwood has named two inclusions for its Round 6 clash with Carlton on Thursday night at the MCG.
Midfielder Ed Allan and forward Will Hayes will return to the senior side for the match. The pair last played in the Pies’ Round 4 loss to reigning premiers Brisbane.
Allan will line-up for game 19, while Hayes will play his fourth game.
The two omissions are midfielders Steele Sidebottom (hip) and Jordan De Goey (concussion).
Sidebottom sustained a hip pointer against Fremantle and is expected to be available for Round 7’s Anzac Day game against Essendon.
De Goey sustained a concussion last week and is progressing through protocols.
Defender Wil Parker, midfielder Lachlan Sullivan and forward Jack Buller are the Magpies’ emergencies.
Vice-Captain Nick Daicos has been selected for his 100th AFL game. The midfield star has developed quite the resume through his first 99 games including the 2023 AFL Premiership, selection in the last three All Australian teams and the 2024 Copeland Trophy to name a few achievements.
Senior Coach Craig McRae is set to reach his 300th game as a player and coach. McRae played 195 games for the Brisbane Lions and is currently on 104 games as coach for Collingwood.
Fittingly, McRae will face his three-time premiership captain and Carlton Senior Coach Michael Voss in the clash. The two will face off in the coach’s box for the ninth time, with McRae having the upper hand with seven wins from their eight previous meetings.
Veteran Jack Crisp has been selected for his 262nd game for Collingwood, moving him past Club legend Jock McHale to outright eighth on the Pies’ all-time games played list.
It will bring the midfielder’s games tally to 280 after 18 matches for the Brisbane Lions.
After debuting in recent games, ruck Oscar Steene against GWS at Marvel Stadium and midfielder Angus Anderson against Fremantle at Adelaide Oval, the pair will get their first taste of action on the MCG.
Thursday night’s clash marks the 31st annual Peter Mac Cup – the longest running charity game in AFL history.
The match will be broadcast live on Channel 7, 7+, Fox Footy and Kayo Sports.
