Clinton Young’s rehabilitation from a long-term hamstring injury is set to reach its next stage with the wingman to face a fitness test on the training track later this week.

Young, who crossed from Hawthorn via Free Agency last October, has not played football at any level since injuring his hamstring in the opening round of the VFL back in April.

If he gets the all clear from the club’s medical staff, he is a chance to line up with Collingwood’s VFL team against Coburg at Victoria Park on Sunday.

After playing in the Magpies’ first four NAB Cup matches, Young was a late withdrawal from the club’s final practice match against Geelong and has only played the aforementioned VFL match in the weeks since.

NSW rookie Michael Hartley is also in line for a return should he pass a fitness test on his injured shoulder later this week.

Hartley, who celebrated his 20th birthday last Friday, has not played since injuring his shoulder in a VFL practice match in March.

Jamie Elliott will also undergo a test on the hamstring that caused him to sit out Monday’s 83-point win over Melbourne.
