The future has arrived.

Two of Collingwood’s draftees will play their first senior AFL games when the Magpies run out against Hawthorn at the MCG on Friday night.

Teenagers Darcy Moore (selection No. 9 in the 2014 National Draft) and Brayden Maynard (selection No. 30) have been named pull on the Black and White stripes for the first time.

The pair replaces the injured Tyson Goldsack (knee tendonitis) and Paul Seedsman, who has been omitted.

ULTIMATE PREVIEW: A Friday night blockbuster.

The moment is laced with particular romance for Moore, who is the son of one of Collingwood’s most famous players.

His father, Peter, played 172 games for the club between 1974 and 1982, claiming the 1979 Brownlow Medal and captaining the side in the process.

Darcy, born in 1996, has made fine progress in the VFL during the first half of 2015. In five games, he has spent time at either end of the ground, settling at full forward in recent weeks where he posted three goals against Box Hill last Saturday.

Wearing his father’s old No. 30, Moore previously led the Oakleigh Chargers to the TAC Cup premiership last season.

Maynard, meanwhile, has quickly picked up the pace of life in the state league after arriving at the club with its third overall selection in last November’s National Draft.

TOP FIVE: Friday night blockbusters.

The youngest player at the Westpac Centre this season, Maynard has averaged 12.7 disposals and 2.8 marks across his first nine games.

Last week, he collected a career-high 24 disposals and took eight marks. This comes after he displayed his penchant for the contest, having laid six tackles in each of his first two games this season.

Maynard has been named as an emergency in three of the past four games, which illustrates how long he has been in the match committee’s thinking.

VFL: Player stats and comments.

The three emergencies are Seedsman, Ben Kennedy and Jonathon Marsh.
