UPDATE: Friday 5pm

Matthew Goodyear has joined Travis Cloke and Ben Sinclair as confirmed members of a Collingwood side which will take on Port Adelaide at the MCG on Sunday.

The Magpies’ have cut an extended 25-man squad down to the final team, with Levi Greenwood, Brayden Maynard and Adam Oxley also keeping their spots.

Brent Macaffer, Jarrod Witts and Jonathon Marsh will be Sunday’s emergencies, with at least two of the three expected to play in the VFL against Werribee on Saturday.

A promotion to the senior team provides the second major breakthrough of Goodyear’s season.

The second-year midfielder made his AFL debut in round three against St Kilda, playing 67 per cent of the game for a return of 11 disposals.

He was omitted at the expense of Steele Sidebottom the following week and returned to the VFL where he quickly found consistent form.

The former Calder Cannon has averaged 27 disposals in his last three games for the VFL Magpies, twice being named as one of Collingwood’s best players.

A familiar face will return to a familiar position on Sunday afternoon when Collingwood face Port Adelaide at the MCG.

After six weeks, and four games in the VFL Travis Cloke has been named to once again take a place in Collingwood’s senior team.

Cloke has been named at centre half forward as a likely replacement of the injured Darcy Moore.

As expected Alex Fasolo (shoulder) and Taylor Adams (hamstring) will miss as they recover from injury. Ben Sinclair will instead start on the field, while there are four new inclusions on the extended bench.

All have seen AFL playing time this season, with Brent MacafferJarrod WittsJonathon Marsh and Matthew Goodyear a chance to return.

The quartet are joined by Levi GreenwoodBrayden Maynard and Adam Oxley on an extended bench of seven players.

Four will receive good news tomorrow when the final 22 is announced at 5pm.

Cloke has kicked seven goals in four games since being demoted to the Magpies VFL team.

His recall comes after a VFL bye, yet a strong week on the training track.

“He trained well today, as did the whole list,” coach Nathan Buckley told the media earlier on Thursday.

“We’ve got a challenge against an opponent who have some specific strengths.”

Buckley also shed light on last weekend’s mystery concussion to defender Alan Toovey.

Toovey has been named to retain his place in Sunday’s side despite being taken to hospital during the game against the Western Bulldogs.

“We think it was a delayed concussion,” Buckley said.

“Toovs seems to have pulled up pretty well. He trained really well today.”
