Jordan De Goey has been named to play his first game for season 2017 when Collingwood celebrates its 125th anniversary against Carlton at the MCG on Saturday.

De Goey is joined by Ben Reid and Jackson Ramsay in Nathan Buckley’s 22-man side.

The injured Travis Varcoe will be watching from the grandstands, as will Henry Schade, who is having his workload managed, and the omitted Tim Broomhead.

De Goeing back for more
The match will be De Goey’s first at senior level since the first round of the JLT Community Series.

A broken knuckle was followed by a three-week suspension on the eve of the opening home and away game against the Western Bulldogs.

In the three VFL games he played while suspended from senior duties, De Goey averaged 25 disposals and five disposals.

His return is timely, for he claimed 32 disposals, five inside 50s and two goals against Sandringham last Saturday.

He has been named at half forward, but can be expected to move into the midfield at different stages.

Bolstering the backs
Ben Reid and Jackson Ramsay slot straight into the back six after missing last week’s win over Geelong.

Reid had his workload managed last week, given the fact that Collingwood will be playing its third game in 12 days this Saturday, while Ramsay was omitted but did not play in the VFL. He was, instead, used as a carry over player for the senior side.

Our commemorative jumper
To mark the Collingwood Football Club's 125th anniversary, the team will be wearing a special commemorative guernsey against Carlton in round seven.

This limited edition collectors’ item is an acknowledgment of our rich and storied past.

The 125th commemorative emblem features on the chest, while Good Old Collingwood Forever is written within the middle black stripe.

The black pinstripe is appropriated from the Collingwood guernseys worn throughout the 1950s, and includes a list of the 15 VFL/ AFL premierships won down the centre.

And, appropriately, all logos featured on the guernsey will be Black and White.

VFL
The Pleasant Sunday was a familiar ritual during the 1960s and 1970s at Victoria Park.

Now, on Sunday 7 May, 125 years to the day since Collingwood played its first ever game of football, we've arranged an old-fashioned 'Pleasant Sunday' at our spiritual home to mark the occasion.

When Collingwood’s VFL team meets the Northern Blues at 1pm, there will be food trucks and stalls on hand and past club greats will be available to sign copies of Champions of Collingwood.

Our archives committee will be on hand to assess or value any items of memorabilia you would like to show them, while there will be a competition for fans to wear their old Collingwood jumpers, with a prize going to the oldest jumper on show.

For those who cannot attend, the match will be also live streamed on collingwoodfc.com.au through Collingwood Media.

Champions of Collingwood
Written by club historian Michael Roberts and the Herald Sun's Glenn McFarlane, this new 464-page book tells the stories of all 125 players, reflecting on not just what made them great footballers but also why we, as fans, loved them so much.

Champions of Collingwood includes many never-before-seen photos from the club's archives and personal collections. It is a magnificent, high quality, hardback publication that every Magpie supporter will be proud to own.

The book will be available for purchase at the Collingwood Superstore at the Holden Centre from 8 May, and is currently available for pre-order online.
