The Collingwood Football Club has restructured and bolstered its list management and recruiting department for season 2018 and beyond.

Respected player manager Ned Guy joins the club in the role of General Manager of List Management and Strategy, Derek Hine has been offered the newly shaped role of National Recruiting Manager and the club will introduce a pro scout department for the first time.

Director of Talent Management at McDonald Sports, Guy brings a depth of experience in talent identification, contract negotiations and player relationships.

General Manager Football Geoff Walsh said the Collingwood Forever Blueprint identified list management and recruiting as an area the club wanted to add additional resources to.

“Ned, through his 11 years in player management, holds a really strong understanding of the system, particularly in the areas of talent identification, management and the relationships required around that,” Walsh said.

“Ned and Derek already share a great working relationship and we feel with the restructure and additional roles we can achieve a great balance and dynamic in the recruiting and list management department,” Walsh said.

The restructure follows the recruitment of several new staff in the broader football department. Justin Longmuir and Matthew Boyd have been added to the coaching ranks, while premiership captain Nick Maxwell will return to the club in a leadership and culture role.

Due to Guy’s immediate player management commitments a start date is yet to be determined.
