Paul Robinson is one of the men behind the cult social media channels 'The Carlton Draft' and 'The Ressies Footballer'

His Black and White passion is unquestionable, and the views represented in this article are solely his own and not representative of the Collingwood Football Club.

FACT: In the 126-year history of Collingwood Footy Club we’ve never lost to the GWS Giants in a final.

I can’t see that changing anytime soon.

There’s more to finals football than kicking goals and taking marks. A lot more, and for that reason we will not lose this Saturday night. It’s hard to explain, but let me try…

If the cinematic world and the AFL one was to somehow crossover; the Magpies would be The Goodfellas and the Giants would be Avatar.

Why are we The Goodfellas? Simple. Everything about that movie is perfect. It has everything a piece of art requires. It’s culturally, historically and aesthetically significant. The mark it has left on pop-culture lives on through every movie of similar ilk made since.

At the Woods we’ve got the perfect cast.

Forget De Niro, Liotta and Pesci. Pendles, JDG and Tay Adams are the cast behind our (soon to be) award-winning masterpiece that is the 2018 season. Pendles doesn’t move for anybody. He doesn’t need to. You move around him and he’s certainly untouchable. De Goey is the young blood coming through the ranks. A real wise guy who does his business as he sees fit. And Adams? Well he doesn’t quite have the height or class as the other two… But don’t mess with him. Seriously.

Our soundtrack doesn’t include the soothing sounds of Dean Martin – it’s actually much more iconic. We’ve got the goose bump raising chant of Coooll-iiiing-woooood from the loyal fans who pack the MCG week in, and week out.

So what makes the Giants Avatar? I’m glad you asked. Well…

Remember when Avatar came out and it ripped the lid off of cinema? Seriously. People’s minds were BLOWN. It broke all sorts of records and was hailed as the future of film. Millions of dollars were poured into the project, and movie-goers were climbing cinema roofs to see it.

Yes, Avatar was on everyone’s lips for a while there. Now? Well – this article is probably the first you’ve heard of that movie since it came out in 2009.

It lacked a few things. Mainly character and heart. Everyone saw it and we all ooh’d and aah’d at the flashiness, then – almost only 12-months later it was, basically, forgotten.

Movies are like football teams. You can’t just be flashy and pretty to stand the test of time.

The Pies are headed to the Prelim courtesy of a 32-point victory.

Brayden Sier will crack 30 possessions for the first time while Mason Cox, Brody Mihocek and Will Hoskin-Elliott will boot 14 goals between them.

Don’t forget our wise guys. They’ll be up to their usual antics too.
