In 2011 Collingwood board member Alisa Camplin and her husband Oliver Warner established Finnan’s Gift following the death of their ten day old son, Finnan.

The organisation was established as a tribute to Finnan and aims to raise money to help other babies suffering from congenital heart diseases.

Now two years on, Alisa and Oliver have welcomed the birth of healthy daughter, Florence and to mark the special occasion, Finnan’s Gift has set a new fundraising goal  of $75,000. The funds will go towards supporting the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne for the purchase of two state of the art Near Infrared Spectroscopy monitors.

Alisa thanked people for their generous support over the past two years and said that since its inception, Finnan’s Gift has been able to make a difference to children at The Royal Children’s Hospital while also raising awareness of Congenital Heart Disease.

“With your support, Finnan's Gift has helped save and improve lives by providing tangible gifts to The Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne. Whether it be a piece of critical equipment, much needed research, advanced training or greater support for patients and families.

“We are incredibly proud of the many gifts made so far and all who've helped make it possible. We hope you will find it within your strong working heart to make a donation or help raise funds, which will improve the odds for all the children whose little hearts still need serious help."

The PICU is the largest paediatric intensive care unit in Australia, with nearly half of the patients treated receiving cardiac care. PICU provide the most urgent and high level care to patients, particularly post surgery and it is critical they have the best equipment to provide the quickest method to monitor patients progress.

The monitors provide quicker and more accurate diagnosis of emerging problems and better treatment of patients after surgery, maximizing the quality of life for survivors of congenital heart disease.

To date Finnan’s Gift has raised more than $500,000 for The Royal Children’s Hospital.
