IT HASN'T been a regular football club induction for new Collingwood recruit Anthony Corrie.
Just days after arriving in Melbourne to begin pre-season training with the Magpies, the former Brisbane Lion was spirited off to Arizona to take part in the club's annual high altitude camp in Arizona.
It's been a huge challenge for the 24-year-old, as he tackles the tough training load while getting to know his new teammates.
"We're working really hard. It's pretty full-on, we're doing a lot of running and I'm finding it really hard to breathe too," Corrie told collingwoodfc.com.au.
"We did Mount Humphries the other day and on the way down, you started getting a massive migraine because of the altitude and the fact you're dropping really quickly.
"We did the canyon yesterday, which is a really long day, but it was really good."
Corrie said there have been no problems slotting in with the Magpies, as the group had welcomed him with open arms.
"It's going pretty well. The boys are making me feel pretty welcome and I'm fitting in really well," he said.
"I pretty much arrived at the club and went to overseas with them, which isn't too bad."
The young forward is yet to find out what Mick Malthouse's plans for him are, and is anticipating the tactical aspect of the Arizona trip, which is set to commence soon.
"We've just finished our week of fitness and now we'll start looking at tactical stuff," he said.
"I've been training with the midfielders, so who knows? I could be a winger, could be a half-forward, could be a half-forward coming up, could be a half-back. Who knows?"
Corrie was initially devastated to leave the Lions and the close-knit Indigenous group his former club has, which includes his biological uncle, Jason Roe, and close mate Jared Brennan.
However, he has found his feet within the Pies' Aboriginal circle, having already become close with a few of his new teammates.
"With the Indigenous boys, I knew Leon Davis and he hangs around with all the other Aboriginal boys, so I've been hanging out with Shannon Cox and all those guys," he said.
"They're all really friendly. I only knew Leon when I arrived but they've all been really good to me."
The move to Melbourne has shifted Corrie - who's unexplainable nickname is 'Nuxy' - further away from his native Darwin.
However, he believes the "freezing" Arizona trip is providing the perfect preparation for life in a southern state.
"It's pretty cold over here so I'm getting used to it," he said.
"I'm going to have to, moving to Melbourne!"
