Collingwood’s two Irishmen will be fit to take on Geelong on Saturday night after they were cleared of any major injury.

Marty Clarke (corked thigh) and Caolan Mooney (knee) both ended Saturday’s loss to Fremantle in the medical room.

Clarke was substituted out of the match during the second quarter and Mooney, who was his replacement, was helped from the field midway through the final term after colliding with an opponent.

“Marty suffered a corked thigh. It’s nothing too serious,” Director of Football Geoff Walsh told collingwoodfc.com.au.

Walsh declared both players available for Saturday night’s game against the Cats.

The news isn’t as good for Hawthorn recruit Clinton Young who will miss between 2-4 more weeks before returning from a hamstring injury after suffering a setback in his rehabilitation.

Young, who has not played a senior game for his new club, injured a hamstring against North Ballarat in the VFL on 6 April and has not been sighted since.

Meanwhile, one of Collingwood’s four recruits in last year’s National Draft may play his first game in a black and white jumper on Saturday.

Tim Broomhead, a 19-year-old from the Port Adelaide Magpies, is a chance to debut for the club’s VFL team against Geelong after a pre-season ruined by glandular fever.

The slightly built midfielder has been listed as a ‘test’ on the club’s updated injury list after slowly rebuilding his fitness in recent months.

Key defender Lachlan Keeffe's rehabilitation from a knee reconstruction has gathered pace with the 23-year-old now listed as being only 1-2 weeks away from returning.

Keeffe ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against Adelaide on 26 May last year.
