Collingwood senior coach Craig McRae spoke to the media after the 4-point win over Hawthorn on Sunday.

"There's a fine line between happiness and misery isn't there", just about sums up the game from Fly after the Pies earned the four points on Sunday afternoon.

The weather played a significant role in the game, with the rain intermittently changing the conditions all afternoon.

"Credit to them [Hawthorn] and the way they played in that third quarter," McRae said.

"I thought they'd come at us, and they did. It's hard to win four quarters of footy at the moment, no matter who you play."

Oliver Henry was instrumental in the final quarter, standing up in the final quarter to help the team get over the line.

"Jeez I'm really proud of what he did in the last quarter," McRae said.

"He's just managing his moments a lot better than what he was earlier in the year, he's just growing in front of our eyes. He's a part of our future."

The sad news out of the game was the injury to Reef McInnes. McInnes has a shoulder injury after a collision in the third quarter.

"It's unfortunate for the young lad, he got an opportunity to play and hopefully he'll be okay," McRae said.

Fly emphasised how proud he is about the growth within the group.

"We dissected the last two minutes of last week for about three hours...to see them take the learnings from last week and execute them this week, we probably don't get the result in the end," McRae said.

"Everyone can see our future...I like to think we're growing in front of your eyes."

Fly outlined decision making as a vital aspect to why we won today, particularly late in the game.

Nick Daicos played one of his best games in the black and white, with a career high 36 disposals.

"Nick's an exciting talent isn't he," McRae said.

"It's what he does with it too, he sees the game really clearly. It's pretty hard to give him a rest when he plays like that."
