Collingwood has today informed Jack Madgen and Caleb Poulter they will not be offered new contracts with the Club.

Cooper Murley has also been delisted but with a commitment from the Club to select him in the AFL Rookie Draft.

Madgen was recruited to Collingwood as a Category B Rookie in 2017. The 29-year-old previously played professional basketball for the Cairns Taipans in the National Basketball League (NBL) and U.S college basketball for Delta State University in Mississippi.

Madgen played 49 games across five seasons with the Pies. This year the defender was held to only nine games due to unfortunate injury setbacks – dislocating his shoulder in May only before undergoing surgery to repair a fractured thumb two months later.

Poulter arrived at the AIA Vitality Centre from South Australia three years later at pick 30 in the 2020 AFL National Draft.

The 20-year-old made his AFL debut in Round 7 against the Gold Coast Suns last year and went on to play 12 games.

Collingwood General Manager of Football, Graham Wright, thanked Madgen and Poulter for their contribution to the Club.

“We thank ‘Madge’ and Caleb for playing important roles in our program,” Wright said.

“Madge has faced injury challenges this year and his positive attitude and resilience should be commended.

“Caleb showed potential at AFL level over the past two seasons. He is still in the formative years of his career and has worked hard to develop his craft in the VFL.

“We wish both Madge and Caleb all the best with their future endeavours.”
