Collingwood breaks all-time VFL/AFL Club Membership record

The Collingwood Football Club has reached the highest-ever Club Membership record in VFL / AFL history.

The Collingwood Football Club is pleased to announce it has reached the highest-ever Club Membership record in the history of the VFL / AFL competition.

An historic 106, 470 Members were celebrated today at Collingwood’s AFL training session at the AIA Vitality Centre.

The achievement comes as the Club’s AFL program embarks on a Finals Series and follows the AFLW launching their eighth campaign.

Collingwood President Jeff Browne acknowledged the historic occasion and thanked the Magpie Army for their continual support.

“Today marks a significant achievement for our Club’s players, staff, and Members. I am pleased to announce we have reached the highest-ever Club Membership record in the history of the VFL/AFL competition,” Browne said.

“I want to express our gratitude to the 106, 470 supporters who have signed up as Collingwood Members this year.

“This is truly a monumental achievement, and we thank each Member for your dedication and unwavering support.

“We are proud to be a Club that houses six teams, in AFL, AFLW, VFL, VFLW, Wheelchair and Reclink, and we thank our Members who support all teams from the elite to community level.

“Our Members are like no other and it is important to acknowledge the key role our Members play off the field that drives overall Club success.

“Each one of you in the Magpie Army is considered our 19th player. You make us better. Your commitment to attend matches each week and to cheer and chant as we encourage the team on to a victory in the final seconds of a match should not be underestimated.

“As we embark on our 2023 Finals campaign, we encourage the Magpie Army to paint the town black-and-white, to get involved, and to enjoy everything about finals footy.

“A special acknowledgement to our Membership Department, and all the staff members involved, who continue to work tirelessly to deliver for our Members and supporters.  

“We are determined to continue to get better across all areas of our Club and on behalf of the Board, staff and athletes, we thank all Members for their commitment so far in 2023.”

This year during the AFL home-and-away season, 1,385,827 supporters attended Collingwood games – a Club record, excluding Gather Round – and over 10.7 million people have watched Collingwood games on TV, which makes the Magpies the most-attended and most-watched team in the AFL competition.

The Magpie Army will enjoy a week filled of Collingwood matches across AFL, AFLW, and Wheelchair – Thursday evening the Club’s AFL side take on Melbourne during the Qualifying Final at the MCG, Sunday afternoon Collingwood’s AFLW play their first home game at Victoria Park against Fremantle, while the Club’s Wheelchair team will play in a first final against Hawthorn at MSAC.
