Collingwood has today strengthened the future of its AFLW program with 11 players signing new contracts with the Club.

Eliza James and Tarni White have both penned a three-year deal to remain Magpies until at least the end of 2026, while Sabrina Frederick, Nell Morris-Dalton, Selena Karlson, Alana Porter and Charlotte Taylor have all extended until the end of 2025.

Also joining the re-signings are Erica Fowler, Sarah Sansonetti, Eleri Morris and Charlotte Blair who have signed on for another season.

Beginning her AFLW career at Collingwood in 2021, James has played 27 games across three seasons.

The forward, who missed most of the first half of the 2023 season due to a foot injury, has kicked a total of 17 goals throughout her career to date.

White and Morris-Dalton, who were both traded to Collingwood ahead of the 2023 season, took part in all 10 games this year.

White was a significant contributor this season offering great speed and pressure to the Pies’ lineup.

Playing a key role in the forward line, 22-year-old Morris-Dalton was the side’s leading goal kicker this season with eight goals.

Frederick had an outstanding 2023 season in the ruck with the 27-year-old finishing second in the league for total hit-outs (287).

Arriving at Collingwood through the 2023 Supplementary Draft, Karlson played six games and averaged 3.8 intercept possessions before missing the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury.

Across five seasons, Porter has made 44 appearances as a Magpie. Traditionally a defender, the 22-year-old also spent time in the Pies’ forward line this season.

In her second season at the Club, Taylor was limited to one game due to injury, but the 19-year-old continued to impress within the training environment.

Since being drafted to Collingwood in 2018, Fowler has played 39 games in the black-and-white.

The 31-year-old not only continues to be a tall option for the team but has the ability to play a range of roles across the ground.

After joining Collingwood as a delisted free agent in June 2022, Sansonetti has played 18 games as a Magpie. The 22-year-old defender averaged a career-high 6.1 intercept possessions this season.

Morris, who was recruited during this year’s AFLW Supplementary Draft, played all 10 games for the Pies in her debut season and had impact on the scoreboard with six goals.

Also, in her second season at the Club, Blair made her exciting AFLW debut in Round 10 against Richmond with her performance impressing coaches and teammates.

Collingwood’s Head of Women’s Football Jess Burger said today’s commitments secure the future of the Club’s AFLW program.

“We’re pleased to see the squad go from strength to strength with these 11 exciting re-signings,” Burger said.

“Having begun their careers at Collingwood, we’re glad to see Eliza, Alana, Charlotte, Erica and Charlotte continue their football journeys at our Club.

“Tarni, Nell, Selena and Eleri have brought great energy and standards into our environment in their first year at the Magpies and it was pleasing to have each of them play every game available this season.

“Both Sabrina and Sarah come off career-best seasons and they continue to demonstrate a commitment to the development of their craft.

“We’re confident in the future of our program and the role these 11 players will have in it. As we look to the future, we look forward to these players playing a role in driving the elite standards within our program.”

Following the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, AFLW players can now be signed on multi-year deals.

As it currently stands, Collingwood has signed 20 players for the 2024 AFLW season.
