Collingwood’s Ed Allan has been named the Round 12 Telstra AFL Rising Star nominee after an impressive performance against Hawthorn on Friday.

The 21-year-old impressed with 23 disposals and 12 handballs in his 9th AFL game.

This was the second consecutive week that Allan had over 20 disposals, with the midfielder impressing against North Melbourne in Round 11 with 24 touches, 16 handballs and eight tackles.

A West Australian product, Allan was drafted at pick 19 in the 2022 National Draft. He made his debut in Round 11 of the 2024 AFL season against Fremantle at Optus Stadium.

Collingwood’s Executive General Manager of Football Charlie Gardiner congratulated Allan on his nomination.

“It is exciting to see Ed’s performances rewarded with a Rising Star nomination,” Gardiner said.

“He’s made an impressive start to the season and is growing in confidence each week. Ed put in an enormous amount of work over the pre-season and it is fantastic to see him display his strengths and really impact games at AFL level.

“Ed has a bright future ahead. He’s a quality young man with a terrific work ethic so we’re very excited to see where he can take his game over the coming years.”
