Collingwood congratulates Ash Centra who has been named the Round 5 Telstra AFLW Rising Star nominee after an impressive performance against the Sydney Swans on Saturday.

Centra collected 18 disposals and kicked two majors, playing an influential role in Collingwood’s second win for the season.

Centra highlighted her versatility, finishing with four intercept possessions and three tackles in the win that ended the Swan’s four-game winning streak in 2025.

Selected with the No.1 pick in the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft, the Seaspray local became Collingwood’s first number one selection since Josh Fraser in 1999, and only the second in Club history.

The 19-year-old made her debut in Round 1 and has featured in all five AFLW games this season.

Earlier this season, Centra took the wider footy world by storm in the warm-up of the Club’s opener against Carlton with her now-infamous behind-the-back bounce, now affectionately dubbed online as the ‘Centra bounce’.

Collingwood’s Executive General Manager of Women’s Football Jess Burger congratulated Centra on her nomination.

“We are incredibly proud of Ash and we are delighted to congratulate her on earning the Rising Star nomination for Round 5,” Burger said.

“Since joining the program, Ash has built the respect of her teammates and wider staff through her application to high performance habits and her role within the system.

“The nomination is a testament to her unwavering dedication to her football as well as her love for the game.”
