The Victorian Football League has today announced a 40-player Smithy’s VFLW State Team squad for the clash against the SANFLW during Gather Round.
Five Collingwood players have been named in the extended squad to potentially pull on the ‘Big V’ in the second annual State Game.
2025 Debbie Lee Medal winner Tahlia Sanger has earned her maiden inclusion in the VFLW State Game squad for 2026.
After averaging 20.9 disposals and 7.1 tackles in her first VFLW season, the 19-year-old was crowned as the VFLW Rising Star at last September’s VFL/W League Awards as well as being named in the midfield in the VFLW Team of the Year.
Former Lambert-Pearce Medal winner Dom Carbone has been named for a second year, having served as Captain of the Vics last season.
The reigning Collingwood VFLW Best and Fairest winner had a stellar first season for the Pies last year, with the skipper leading her side to their second Grand Final appearance in three seasons.
Former AFLW tiger Amelia Peck has also been named in the State Team squad for the first time after also earning Team of the Year honours at last year’s League Awards.
The forward kicked 24 goals in 16 games for the Pies, including a bag of five against Essendon in Round 8 and back-to-back hauls of four in the backend of the season.
Defender Tamara Henry also earns her maiden State Game honours, with the former Adelaide Crow playing every game in her first season with Collingwood’s VFLW program in 2025.
Rounding out Collingwood’s inclusions is new 2026 recruit Abbey Tregellis, who has joined the Pies following three seasons with Sandringham.
The 21-year-old averaged 16.5 disposals in 2025, with the midfielder impressing in Sandringham’s Round 13 clash with Essendon racking up 27 disposals and 12 tackles in the Zebras’ narrow loss.
The final team to represent the VFLW State Team will be announced next week.
