The Magpie Army is migrating north for Easter, with the black and white faithful heading to Queensland in their droves for Collingwood’s huge Easter Thursday clash with the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.

We want you to be part of our travelling party!

And once you’ve watched the Pies in action at the Gabba you can sample some of the other great things on offer in south-east Queensland.

Here are five ideas for some post-footy fun:

1. Check out Brisbane’s laneways and coffee culture
Head to Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall, then sneak down Burnett Lane, where you’ll find a host of renowned cafés, including the much-admired Felix for Goodness.

2. Take in Brisbane from on high
The climb to the top of Brisbane’s City Hall, location of its famed Clock Tower, is well worth the effort. Take the elevator or the stairs up 92 metres and be greeted by panoramic views of Queensland’s capital. For the history buffs, the Clock Tower was the state’s tallest building for many decades and has been keeping Brisbane on time since the 1930s.

3. Go out on the town
Brisbane has a huge range of dining and entertainment options, and many of them are located along the ever-popular South Bank precinct. If it’s fine dining you’re after, head to the likes of Bacchus, French Martini and Stokehouse Q. There are plenty of other options for all budgets, including Barbossa, which serves Caribbean-inspired food, and Bourbon Street, which takes its inspiration from New Orleans.

4. Head to Stradbroke Island
A day-trip to Stradbroke Island is a must for nature-lovers and those looking for some quality relaxation. Take in North Gorge Walk and keep an eye out for the plentiful wildlife, including dolphins, manta rays and turtles. Spread out a towel on one of the sandy beaches or take a dip in Brown Lake, a sacred site for the local Quandamooka people.

5. Take in the new and improved Aussie World
Hire a car and head north to the Sunshine Coast where you can find the much-improved and much-loved Aussie World. The attraction has been overhauled in recent times, with new rides, including the Typhoon SX 360, set to rival those at Dreamworld. Old favourites including the Wasp, Redback and Mayhem Maze continue to delight patrons of all ages. Then there’s the on-site pub, which is a perfect spot for relaxing after the adrenaline-fuelled action.
