Collingwood fans can celebrate 90 years since the Club’s famous 1936 triumph by visiting the newly-displayed haul of premiership cups housed at the KGM Centre.

Front and centre in the museum, all 16 of the Pies’ premiership cups sit proudly for the  Magpie Army to come immerse themselves in, including the one won all the way back nine decades ago.

The ’36 flag was won in a tight contest against South Melbourne at the MCG, with the Magpies getting over the line by 11 points.

They’d won by only 13 points a fortnight earlier in the semi final against the same side, and had beaten them in 1935 decider as well, making the victory even sweeter.

During one of the Club’s most successful eras, Collier brothers Albert and Harry led the way in what was a second consecutive premiership.

It came on the back of the relatively lean period of 1931-34 which yielded none of the premiership success that had become so normal during ‘The Machine’s’ run of four straight flags between 1927-30.

Some of the best Magpies figures throughout history were part of the 1936 side, with Jack Regan, Phonse Kyne, and Alby Pannam all part of the team.
