It was a tough weekend for the Pies, going down in all three of the Club’s weekend fixtures.
The AFL squad kicked the weekend off with a clash against Brisbane on Friday night to close out the home and away season.
In a high-scoring affair, the black and white went down 96-159.
The Pies kicked three goals to five in the opening term in what was brewing as a high-quality contest, and the second quarter continued that trend with goals flowing from both sides.
The second half saw the Lions run away with the game however as they slammed on 15 goals to nine to finish 63-point winners.
Young forward Charlie West impressed with three majors, with Angus Anderson also kicking three goals.
Sam Swadling and Jordan De Goey (32 disposals each) both racked up plenty of the ball, while the Daicos brothers had 53 touches between them.
On Saturday it was the VFLW squad’s turn, with an important clash against reigning premiers North Melbourne Werribee facing them.
Having played the Kangaroos in last year’s decider, the game was the perfect tune up for Tom Cashin’s side in what was the penultimate home and away game of 2026.
It was a tight contest all day, however the Pies went down by six points.
With plenty of AFLW-listed stars in, there was no shortage of quality on the park, with Dom Carbone (23 touches) and Georgia Knight (two goals) impressing.
Amelia Peck continued her hood season with another three majors, while Tahlia Sanger collected 24 touches.
The Pies will close out their regular season with a clash against top-of-the-table Williamstown this Saturday as they hunt a top-two finish.
On Sunday it was over to Victoria Park as the Pies hosted their first AFLW game of the season, welcoming Fremantle for an afternoon fixture.
With a host of inclusions including former skipper Bri Davey, the black and white had a strong side in for the Round 2 clash.
The Dockers got away to a fasts start with three goals to one in the opening term, and they extended their lead to 16 points by half time.
It was another tough quarter for the black and white in the third term as they conceded three more goals, with the final margin 20 points.
Davey had 22 touches on return from just 56 percent game time, while Captain Ruby Schleicher kicked two majors.
The Pies take on Hawthorn at Vic Park on Sunday.
