The Western Bulldogs have won through to the next round of finals in the most dramatic fashion, defeating Collingwood by three points at the MCG on Friday night.

Collingwood veteran Tim Membrey had a chance to put the Magpies in front as the final handful of seconds ticked down, but he failed to convert the set shot to see the Dogs run away with the 14.12 (96) to 14.9 (93) contest.

Momentum ebbed and flowed all night before it ratcheted up with less than six minutes on the clock as the two sides traded blows.

Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos wore close attention all night, starting with a tussle over the boundary with Joel Freijah and ending with a 1v1 battle with Dogs star Marcus Bontempelli around the centre ball-up.
