Collingwood midfielder Ash Centra has been named the Round 8 Telstra Rising Star nominee following a career-best performance against Melbourne.
Centra stood out against the Dees at Victoria Park, collecting a career-high 30 disposals and seven clearances along with an equal career-high five score involvements, while hitting the scoreboard with a goal.
Entering only her second season at AFLW level, Centra has quickly established herself as an exciting young talent in the forward line, hitting the scoreboard six times in her last seven games this season.
The nomination marks her second, having previously received the honour in Round 5 of her debut season after starring against the Sydney Swans.
Centra’s latest nomination adds to an impressive list of early career achievements, including selection in the 2025 AFLPA 22Under22 team.
Collingwood Executive General Manager of Women’s Football Jess Burger congratulated Centra on her second Rising Star nomination.
“Ash has continued to invest in her development and this nomination is a great recognition of the work she has put into her football both on and off the field,”
“Her performance against Melbourne showcased the next progression of her game, particularly her ball-winning skills, ability to create opportunities and defensive intent.
“To earn a second Rising Star nomination is a fantastic achievement. We’re excited to see ‘Cench’ enjoying her football alongside the team as she continues to develop and put her strengths on show.”
