Jesse Hogan has joined the Club via the trade period, with the deal going through on day one.

Here’s all you need to know about the key forward who will be swapping the orange and charcoal for the black and white.

Where has he come from?

Hogan joins the Pies from the GWS GIANTS after spending the past six seasons in NSW.

He played exactly 100 games for the Giants, having already played for Melbourne and Fremantle before that.

The Dees drafted him in 2012, with the right-footer playing 71 games in red and blue between 2013-18, before he added 19 games at Fremantle in 2019 and 2020.

With 409 goals from 190 games, Hogan joins a fourth Club with plenty of experience and success behind him.

What position does he play?

Hogan is a key forward, having been one of the premier goal-kickers in the league in recent times.

His career started with a bang with 152 goals for Melbourne in his 71 games there, while he exploded as his GWS tenure continued.

A strong mark and a metronomic set shot, Hogan will provide reliability and consistency in front of the big sticks.

What’s his trophy cabinet look like?

Hogan’s career so far has been bookended by some great success, with a Coleman Medal, Club Best & Fairest and All Australian jacket all coming in 2024.

Early in his career he made consecutive 22 Under 22 sides in 2015 and 2016, while he was the Demons’ leading goal-kicker in both those years.

He achieved that feat for the GIANTS in 2024 and 2025 as well, while in 2026 he won best on ground honours for Western Australia in the state’s Origin clash with Victoria.

Awards:

  • 22 Under 22 team (2015, 2016)
  • Melbourne leading goal-kicker (2015, 2016)
  • GWS leading goal-kicker (2024, 2025)
  • Coleman Medal (2024)
  • All Australian (2024)
  • GWS B&F (2024)
  • Graham Moss Medal - WA best on ground (2026)

How was his 2026 season?

An injury riddled season made 2026 tougher than other recent years for Hogan, with the 31-year-old managing just nine games.

He had a solid start to his campaign with three goals in Opening Round and two against St Kilda in Round 2, before kicking two each in Rounds 5 and 7.

From there he struggled to get on the park however, missing Rounds 9 – 13 and then not playing at all after the GIANTS went down to Carlton on Round 15.

Anything else I should know?

Hogan has connections to a few Pies players, having spent time with Jeremy Howe at Melbourne, Lachie Schultz at Fremantle in 2019 and Harry Perryman during their time together at GWS.

He also played for WA earlier this year alongside ruck Darcy Cameron, with the pair hailing from WAFL club Claremont.
