The Pies have added to their ruck stocks today after completing a trade with Carlton for Flynn Riley.

The Blues will receive a 2028 third-round pick in exchange for Riley.

A 2026 AFL mid-season draftee, Riley made his debut with Carlton in Round 18 against Hawthorn.

The 22-year-old is known for his strength at ruck contests and ability to play around the ground.

Standing at 209cm, Riley was selected by the Carlton following numerous years at the VFL Blues, where he developed his ruck craft.

Riley played 11 VFL games this season for the Blues, averaging 14.9 disposals, 5.3 clearances and 31.5 hitouts per game.

General Manager of List and Talent Strategy Justin Leppitsch was excited by the potential of Riley.

“We're thrilled to welcome Flynn to the Club. He's a talented young player who has shown a lot of growth in his football over recent seasons,” Leppitsch said.

“Flynn is a player we've tracked closely and one we see significant upside in. He possesses strong football instincts, works hard around the contest and has shown a willingness to continually improve his game.

“Flynn and his family are passionate Pies supporters also and he is looking forward to playing for the jumper."

The 2026 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period will run through to Wednesday 14 October.
