Collingwood were without their big guy Brett Newman this week, but knew they could take it up to the Tigers.

The game started slow with not many scoring shots, but the Pies took the lead at the first change 14 – 3, keeping the Tigers goalless for the first term. The Pies picked up the pace in the 2nd with 7 goals to Richmond’s 1, giving them a 46 point lead at the half way mark.

The second half the Tigers came out to play, getting the better of the Pies with 5 goals to Collingwood’s 2. The final change wasn’t any better for the Pies. Richmond came at them hard, keeping the pies scoreless tigers getting 3.3 to make it a close match.

With the last two minutes the Pies managed to slow the game down and keep possession, in the end rolling out winners by 8 Points. Riley Fitzgerald had a day out, scoring an impressive 10 goals.

Currently sitting 2nd on the ladder under the Bombers, Collingwood play Hawks next round, at Boroondara Sports complex June 30th 12.05.
