Collingwood stormed home to defeat Footscray at Whitten Oval thanks to a dominant final term.

The opening three quarters were an arm wrestle, with the Bulldogs leading by a point at the last change. But the Magpies booted five majors in the fourth to the Dogs’ one to win 12.9 (81) to 8.10 (58).

Quick goals to Andrew Gallucci and Tim Broomhead at the start of the last quarter put the Pies in control. Isaac Quaynor kicked the sealer on the run from 50 metres out in time-on of the last term to put the Pies in front by the final margin of 23.

The final quarter surge was a fair reward for effort for the Pies, who had eight of the top-nine possession winners on the ground.

Alex Woodward led the way with 38 disposals, while Matthew Scharenberg was colossal in defence with 33.

Josh Daicos started on fire for the Pies with 16 disposals in the first half before being rested as an emergency for the senior side later this afternoon.

Matthew Smith, Campbell Lane and Adam Oxley were all prolific through the midfield, while half-backs Quaynor, Jack Madgen and debutant John Noble all racked up 20-plus touches.
