Geelong has axed ruckman Rhys Stanley for its crucial qualifying final against Collingwood, with midfielder Sam Menegola named to replace him on Friday night.

Menegola was one of two Cats emergencies held out of a VFL scratch match earlier in the day, with the club later confirming he would replace the late withdrawal Stanley.

Geelong had already made two alterations to its team earlier in the week, with Tom Atkins and Jake Kolodjashnij replacing the injured Cam Guthrie and the omitted Lachie Henderson.

Collingwood is unchanged from the team it selected for the MCG clash, which featured three big additions including Jordan De Goey, Steele Sidebottom and Jaidyn Stephenson.

They replace omitted trio Matthew Scharenberg, Jack Madgen and Travis Varcoe.
