Get to the MCG before Sunday’s clash with North Melbourne to help celebrate the amazing career of Leon Davis.

‘Maj’ will be doing a lap of honour around the ground at 2.55pm.

He played his final game for the club in the 2011 Grand Final but made his decision to retire from senior football after that year’s Copeland Trophy Dinner, meaning that he didn’t leave the club with the fanfare that usually accompanies the retirement of a much loved player.

Davis played a total of 225 senior games for Collingwood between 2000 and 2011 and was twice named in the All-Australian team.

Remarkably, he was named in the forward pocket in 2009 and on the half back flank in 2011, underlining the depth of his talents.

He kicked the AFL’s Goal of the Year against Fremantle in 2008, which was one of the 270 he kicked during his 12 year career.

Davis played in 15 finals and four Grand Finals but sadly missed the 2010 premiership through omission.

But Collingwood supporters will never forget the crucial goal he kicked in the drawn match against St Kilda to help keep the club's premiership dream alive.

With just over 13 minutes remaining in the match and Collingwood leading by only eight points, Davis outbodied Sean Dempster, broke two tackles, ran into space and snapped a critical goal to give the Magpies some badly needed breathing space.

Make sure you’re at the MCG by 2.55pm to congratulate Neon Leon on his magnificent career.
