Nine of the top 10 from last year's Brownlow Medal count, including winner Nat Fyfe, will take to the field.

Fyfe headlines an All-Stars side that features powerful Carlton midfielder Patrick Cripps, along with Grundy and courageous Brisbane skipper Dayne Zorko.

Victoria also boasts a formidable line-up that includes Brownlow medallists Dustin Martin and Patrick Dangerfield and Western Bulldogs duo Marcus Bontempelli and Jack Macrae.

The only player in the top 10 in last year's Brownlow Medal count who won't be involved is West Coast marquee recruit Tim Kelly, who is being managed.

Grand Finalists Richmond and Greater Western Sydney will have the biggest representation with six players each across the two teams.

Martin will be joined in the Victorian side by fellow Tigers Bachar Houli, Trent Cotchin and Tom Lynch, while Shane Edwards and Jack Riewoldt will represent the All-Stars.

New Giants skipper Stephen Coniglio (All-Stars) will have five of his teammates – Coleman medallist Jeremy Cameron, Nick Haynes, Lachie Whitfield, Josh Kelly and Toby Greene – donning the Big V.

Brisbane – represented by Stefan Martin, Harris Andrews, Charlie Cameron, Lachie Neale and Zorko – and Collingwood will each have five players involved.

Victorian coach Damien Hardwick and All Stars counterpart John Longmire agreed to ditch the original stipulation of having a maximum of three players from each AFL club to allow the best players in the competition to be involved.

About the event

The State of Origin for Bushfire Relief match was announced as a double header with the NAB AFL Women’s Round 4 match between Collingwood and Melbourne, with all proceeds from tickets sales and any additional donations to go into a Community Relief Fund set up by the AFL to support the local communities in fire affected areas to repair and rebuild their football clubs, including helping footballing families in these impacted communities.

This supports the $2.5m already donated by the AFL, its 18 Clubs and AFL / AFLW players through the AFL Players’ Association, to support communities impacted by the bushfires across Australia.

A donation of $1 million will go towards immediate relief efforts on the ground through the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery fund. A further $1.5 million has been contributed into the Community Relief Fund, as identified above, that directly supports the local football clubs and families in these impacted communities nationally.
