Collingwood has confirmed its squad for the 2020 VFLW season.
A series of 2019 premiership players have re-signed including third year players Katie Lee and Sarah King (AFLW Train Ons)
Lee, a member of the Pies’ 2019 premiership side offers experience at both ends of the ground and is known for her leadership skills.
Despite not playing in the 2019 premiership, King played a crucial ruck role in the team last season, running out for 13 games.
Also returning this season is Aisling Curley and Caitlin Bunker. As members of 2019 premiership side and also this year’s AFLW train-ons, the two have impressed with crafty skills in the midfield.
Pressure forward, Morgan Doherty and athletic midfielder, Jasmine Ferguson have also secured spots on the 2020 list.
Having unfortunately suffered an ACL injury during the 2019 pre-season, Cahila Haslam returns to the side this year in hope of making her VFLW debut. With a strong basketball background, the crafty forward offers great decision-making on field.
New to the side is speedy half-back and midfielder, Morgan Johnston. Having spent the last two years with the NT Thunder, Johnston has made the move to Melbourne to play in the side.
Crossing over from the Southern Saints is Georgia Ricardo. The highly skilled footballer is known for her excellent ability to read of the game and use of her body.
Small forward, Jess Stramandinoli joins the Pies having previously played for the Queanbeyan Tigers in Canberra. A goalkicker with fine skills, Stramandinoli is also an AFLW train-on for the 2020 season.
A two-time best and fairest winner in the Southern Football League, Jordy Mifsud is a tough midfielder who shows great consistency.
This year’s team will be coached by AFLW assistant coach, Chloe McMillan.
Collingwood’s VFLW season will kick off on Saturday May 16 against Carlton.
