The late change just got later.

For the remainder of this season, teams will be able to name their final line-ups 60 minutes before a game starts, no longer needing to file their starting sides 90 minutes before the first bounce.

AFL.com.au has confirmed the League has made the decision to give clubs an extra half an hour to finalise their selected sides as a result of the change to match day travel this year.

Clubs, like North Melbourne and Essendon in round two heading to Sydney, will be flying interstate on the day of a game, so the AFL has allowed them another 30 minutes to settle on their line-ups before they are officially revealed.

The move to streamline match day logistics will have clubs guessing about their opponents' final sides until the final hour before play begins.
