As the world ticks over into 2013, collingwoodfc.com.au looks ahead at all the thrills and spills that lay just around the corner as the club embarks on its 121st season.

It all starts against North Melbourne in round one on Easter Sunday in a twilight fixture at Etihad Stadium. Can the Magpies start on a winning note for the fourth year in succession?

Collingwood will feature in the 19th annual ANZAC Day blockbuster against Essendon. It remains the biggest day on the football calendar outside of the finals series.

Last year, Collingwood triumphed off the back of a Jarryd Blair toe-poke with less than two minutes remaining on the clock. We have won six of the last seven ANZAC Day matches. Can we do it again in 2013?

Free Agent Quinten Lynch will confront his old side for the first time when the two teams meet under the MCG lights in round 23...

...which means it's the first time we'll cross paths with Sharrod (not counting the second round NAB Cup fixture between the two sides in March).

On that note, Chris Dawes will face his 2010 premiership teammates on the Queen's Birthday in round 11.

But we, too, have our share of new faces. What can Messers Russell, Lynch and Young produce in 2013?

Or, for that matter, our four non-Victorian draftees: Ben Kennedy, Brodie Grundy, Tim Broomhead and Jackson Ramsay.

Collingwood will link with Port Adelaide to honour the late John McCarthy when the Pies travel to AAMI Stadium in round 14.

We come face-to-face with Hawthorn in round three after losing to them on three occasions in 2012. The fact that Chris Tarrant won't be there to man Buddy Franklin adds further intrigue...

After the Swans snapped the Magpies' 11-game stranglehold over them in the Preliminary Final, you can be Shaw that the Maggies will throw everything at them in round 20.

What youngsters can take the fabled next step in 2013? Will it be Fas? Can Lachie Keeffe overcome his knee reconstruction to find the form that made him a revelation in the first half of the season?

And what of Ben Johnson? Coming into his 14th season, Johnno is the only player on the 2013 list to have played with a member of the 1990 premiership. After two seasons stifled by injury, the reliable left footer is set to remind everyone just how important he is as a member of Collingwood's back six.

How many games will 209cm ruckman Jarrod Witts play in his second season on the senior list? The big man is earmarked for big things in the years to come.

Just how many more medals and trophies can Dane Swan add to his trophy cabinet?

Oh, have you heard that we play Carlton in round two? On a Sunday afternoon at the MCG? Against our second longest serving coach Mick Malthouse? A packed Melbourne Cricket Ground awaits. We have only 87 days until we find out what the Magpies of 2013 have up their sleeves. Are you with us? Make sure you're standing Side By Side with Collingwood by becoming a member of the Magpie Army now. Go Pies!
