Collingwood forward Jordan Membrey will miss the remainder of the 2021 AFLW campaign after scans today confirming a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee.

The 25-year-old sustained the injury during the third quarter of yesterday afternoon’s victory against Melbourne at Victoria Park.

Collingwood’s General Manager of Women’s Sport, Jane Woodlands-Thompson, sympathised for Membrey.

“The whole program is heartbroken for Jordy,” Woodlands-Thompson said.

“In true Jordy nature, she remains in good spirits and is determined to contribute to the campaign in another capacity.

“We will continue to support Jordy during this challenging time.”

Teammates rally around Membrey after the match

Membrey has established herself in Collingwood’s attacking end as a highly effective mid-sized forward. Last season, Membrey was recognised as Collingwood’s leading goal kicker with seven goals for the 2020 campaign.

Membrey will consult with her surgeon later this week.
