Take a look at the key takeaways from Bucks’ weekly presser.

The return of Roughead + Adams
Bucks touched on the inclusions of Jordan Roughead (concussion) and Taylor Adams (MCL).

  • “Our ins are Roughy and Adams as leaders of our football club and a couple of young fellas have come out. That doesn’t mean we aren’t planning for the future.”
  • “When the win/loss is like it is, I understand where the fans are coming from. We think we can turn it around and play better footy. In the short term, we’ve got a couple of ins this week that will help us. The fans want to see stability, we’re definitely searching for that.”
  • Adams - “He’s an exception character, good footballer and a great leader. His contribution in a coaching and leadership sense has been brilliant when on the sidelines. He continues to come of age We’re rapt to have him back.”

Coming up against Port
After last week’s loss to Sydney, Bucks said it was a key focus for the group to maintain consistency and run out the whole game.

  • “We perform and play four quarters of footy. We were really happy with how we started last week, but we fell away with the game. We want our last quarters to look like our first quarter so that’s our challenge coming up against Port.”

Increasing scoring profile
Bucks touched on the side's ongoing inefficiency up forward.

  • “The better we defend, the closer the turnover to your front half up front and the better chance you have of scoring.”
  • “We lose our dare, we don’t look to shift the ball as much, something we need to continue to coach and support the players to take those risks.”

Howe Recovery
Bucks provided an update on Jeremy Howe following his surgery last week.

  • “He had quite a bit of scar tissue removed from that surgery. It was evident he definitely needed that done to get back to full fitness. He’s recovered well + seeing this opportunity to get behind the young boys. If he’s right at the end of the year, we’ll play him.”
  • “He’s getting around the young boys and sees this as an opportunity to grow, learn, impact and provide support.”

Elliott Progressing Well
Bucks provided an update on Jamie Elliott.

  • “His moving really well. His changing direction and working on agility. Two weeks was the margin for him.”

Cox Injury
Having received a heavy knock to the throat during Wednesday’s training session, Mason Cox appears to be recovering well.

  • “He’s travelling well. The big fella seems to get some strange injuries. His getting the full experience of AFL footy.”

Board Not Sitting On Their Hands
Bucks reassured the media that the playing group remains focused on their own weekly schedule and on the game ahead rather than on external matters.

  • “As a club we’ve gone through a fair bit of change. Over the last four or five years as an organisation we’ve tried to change the way we go about things.”
  • “The board itself hasn’t been sitting on its hands. They’ve been doing a lot things to be better. I trust that the board and who is governing the club are looking in the best interests of the club.”
