The tireless South Australian was last year named on the interchange bench in the All-Australian team and was probably the Magpies’ most important player. Remarkably for a ruckman, he was almost another midfielder, averaging 20.2 disposals, leading the Pies in contested possessions and was second in clearances (10th in the AFL) and tackles. And he did it all with great vigour that lifted his teammates.
