Collingwood has strengthened its position in the 2022 national draft through an exchange of selections with Fremantle.

The Magpies have turned one selection into two selections, with Fremantle’s pick 27 in this year’s draft and the Docker’s third round selection in next year’s draft being exchanged for pick 22.

Collingwood acquired pick 22 from Gold Coast in an eight pick swap earlier this week.

As it stands, Collingwood holds picks 27, 36, 43, 46, 48, 55, 58, 78 and 79 in this year’s draft and a first, third, and fourth round selection in 2022.

“Today’s trade, in particular the future third selection, has firmed our position in next year’s draft,” Collingwood GM of Football, Graham Wright, said.

“Access to draft talent and the flexibility to work in an out of both this year’s draft and next year’s draft is a priority for us.”
