First Quarter
1.37 – Brad Hill makes an early impact, bending back the first of the afternoon for Fremantle. Collingwood trails 0-6.
5.36 – Running back with the flight, Darcy Moore spills a mark but recovers quickly, handballing off to Travis Varcoe who misses. Collingwood trails 1-6.
7.00 – Moore again gets involved, marking back with the flight and goaling from tight in the pocket. Collingwood trails 7-8.
12.00 – Fremantle kicks long to the goal line. With the ball rolling towards the goals, Tyson Goldsack arrives in the nick of time to paddle the ball over for a behind. Collingwood trails 7-10.
13.00 – A chain of handballs leads to Tom Phillips, who receives from Jarryd Blair and steps inside on his favoured left boot. He goals from the 50m out. Collingwood leads 13-10.
17.26 – New Docker Cameron McCarthy pounces, moves into space and snaps their third. Collingwood trails 13-16.
20.21 – Michael Walters converts from a set shot tight in the pocket. Collingwood trails 13-22.
21.48 – Great poise from Jack Crisp allows him to curl the ball around a corner and onto the chest of Jesse White. He makes no mistake and keeps the Magpies in touch. Collingwood trails 19-22.
Second Quarter
1.05 – Collingwood sweeps the ball coast-to-coast, with Jesse White heavily involved. White runs past to receive the handball from James Aish, but his kick misses to the left. Collingwood trails 20-23.
7.02 – Welcome back, Adam Treloar! In his first match of the new season, the runner up in last year’s Copeland Trophy gathers, spins out of two tackles, finds his way onto the right boot and snaps our fourth. Collingwood leads 26-24.
10.12 – Mason Cox is infringed by direct opponent Zac Dawson and receives a free kick metres from goal. He converts. Collingwood leads 32-25.
13.58 – Two excitement machines combine! Darcy Moore holds a fine intercept mark just forward of the wing and bounds away into space. He draws a man and hands off to Alex Fasolo who steadies, snaps and goals. Collingwood leads 38-25.
15.03 – Brad Hill keeps Fremantle in the contest, sinking a long bomb for nine from outside the 50m arc. Collingwood leads 38-34.
17.11 – Cox! What a hanger! The Magpies sweep it coast-to-coast where Jarryd Blair spots the big ruckman just metres from goal. He takes a fine contested mark but can’t convert from metres out.
20.21 – Unselfish football by Brayden Maynard paves the way for Travis Varcoe to step inside, steady and kick his first of the aftermoon. Collingwood leads 46-34.
20.59 – Half time.
