Collingwood midfielder Jack Crisp has been awarded his second consecutive E. W Copeland Trophy at Crown Melbourne tonight.
Crisp finished the night with 291 votes after a brilliant season where he polled in every home-and-away match and throughout the finals series. His outstanding finals campaign resulted in a runner-up finish in the AFL Coaches’ Association Gary Ayres Award.
Crisp’s season saw him finish in the top 10 percentile for average disposals (23.8), contested possessions (9.6), and total goals (12) for the Club this season.
In Collingwood’s Preliminary Final against the Sydney Swans, Crisp celebrated a milestone 200 games. This is the 28-year-old's 11th AFL campaign, his eighth at Collingwood.
Crisp has played 188 consecutive games, the most for any active player in the AFL, and has now finished top three in Collingwood’s best and fairest on five occasions.
Earlier this month Crisp, along with Nick Daicos, polled highest in the 2022 Brownlow Medal count for the Club at 11 votes.
Collingwood Captain Scott Pendlebury – who in Round 18 became the first person in Club history to play 350 games for Collingwood – finished the Copeland count second with 276 votes. Pendlebury has now finished in the top three of the Copeland in the last 14 of his 17 seasons in the black and white.
Vice-captain Darcy Moore finished in third place (269 votes) and polled in all but one round this season when he was sidelined for knee soreness in Round 17. The key defender claimed the Bob Rose Award for best player during the AFL Finals Series.
Rounding out the top five were Vice-Captain Jeremy Howe (266 votes) and forward Steele Sidebottom (265 votes).
The E. W Copeland Trophy was one of three best and fairest awards celebrated with the Joseph Wren Trophy awarded to Finlay Macrae as the Club’s best performer in the VFL, and the Brendan Stroud Medal awarded to Ben Jankovski for best performer in the Club’s Victorian Wheelchair Football League (VWFL) side.
Brody Mihocek booted 41 goals to claim the Gordon Coventry award as leading goal-kicker, the fourth year in a row.
Brayden Maynard received the Darren Millane Perpetual Memorial Trophy for best clubman while Beau McCreery claimed the Gavin Brown Award for his at ball pressure.
The 2022 AFL Rising Star Nick Daicos was awarded the Harry Collier Trophy as the Club’s best first year player. Daicos was the leading disposal collector for the side (averaging 25.8 per match) and kicked seven goals across 25 games this year.
