Draft summary
"It's really gratifying when you think of where we were selecting and then think of the sort of players we were able to bring to the club.
"I must admit that Alex Fasolo was a little bit of a surprise for us - where we selected him which was a real bonus. We had a band of players and fortunately we were able to pick up two or three that fell into that band.
"I think if you have a look at our list in totality, what we've tried to do is be very flexible with the areas of the field these boys can go to. We feel that probably all those boys, except for maybe Kirk initially, can do that for us.
"On the back of bringing Chris Tarrant and Andrew Krakouer in, as well as a developing ruckman in John Ceglar, it's been really pleasing."
Selection No.45: Alex Fasolo (East Fremantle)
Player profile
"I can't tell you why he got there, I don't know. We've done a fair bit of work on Alex, but we didn't think he'd be there.
"I think perhaps the picks in front of us, particularly from 25 through to 40, the taller types of players that jumped in there really helped us.
"He's just a real competitor. He was already playing senior footy at East Fremantle. He uses the ball well and as an 18-year-old he's kicked six goals in a senior game which is a bit of a testament to where he's at. It's not beyond his capabilities to play next year."
Selection No.46: Daniel Farmer (Sandringham Dragons)
Player profile
"Daniel Farmer is a developing utility who plays forward, back and mid and has got some real size about him. He's an elite user of the ball and he'll also bring a great deal of flexibility."
Selection No.60: Kirk Ugle (Swan Districts)
Player profile
"We've got young Kirk Ugle who's probably a succession player if you like in terms of Leon Davis' position. He'll come in and play inside 50 eventually, but he'll need a bit of development put into him first."
Selection No.76: Paul Seedsman (Eastern Ranges)
Player profile
"Paul Seedsman is a developing utility. He's a 188-190cm lad who is still a bit light in build, so he won't come straight in and play, but he's an elite user who goes left and right.
"He's a little bit lacking in his physicality at the moment, but he's a terrific kid and he fits nicely into our succession planning."
Selection No.77: Trent Stubbs (East Coast Eagles)
Player profile
"Trent Stubbs was a NSW scholarship boy with Hawthorn, but they elected not to go ahead with his scholarship. It's funny. We've been following Trent for quite a while because we did like him as a scholarship boy, but for whatever reason Hawthorn elected not to carry on with him, so we thought he'd be a really good pick there."
