Ash Johnson comes into the side for the injured Mason Cox, who has been ruled out of the match with a hematoma in his hip region.

It will be the first time Johnson pulls on the black and white stripes in 2023, after playing nine games and kicking 15 goals in 2022.

The Key Forward comes into the side off the back of a strong performance in the VFL, kicking four goals in Collingwood’s 92-point win against Coburg last Saturday.

Craig McRae said Johnson has been playing above the level in the VFL.

“Ash has been in good form the last couple of weeks,” McRae said.

“He’s another that has really been playing above the level in the VFL.”

On Cox, General Manager of Football Graham Wright said:

“Mason experienced soreness in his rib area after the game last weekend,” GM of Football Graham Wright said.

“His injury was initially believed to be a bruised rib, however, after further investigation scans revealed a hematoma in that region.

“Mason’s health is our priority here – he will now undertake further scans before we determine a timeline for his return.”
